Carthage, NC, just one hour Southwest of Raleigh, (pop. 2,310) was the home of the Tyson Buggy Company, a predominant cart and buggy manufacturer in the 1800s. Now the host of an annual spring event called the Buggy Festival, Carthage showcases the history of the town as well as showing off music, hot rods, old tractors, old buggies made by the Tyson Buggy Company, and crafts from potteries in the surrounding areas. It is a wonderful weekend that accents the small town feel of the location. Now Carthage can also claim that it is tiny house friendly as Heritage RV Park has recently repositioned itself as Heritage RV and Tiny House Park, welcome tiny houses on wheels and other tiny house units.
According to a park representative the campground has, in recent years, transitioned to more of a monthly/extended-stay park. This is becoming far more regular for RV parks as more and more couples and families are using RVs, park models, and even tiny houses, as second homes and vacation homes. Since December 2015 Heritage has played host to a triple axle Tumbleweed Elm model.
The sites at Heritage RV and Tiny House Park are both shady and leveled, offering water, sewage and electric (50/30/120) hookups. There are also a few lake-front sites still available that have water and electric only and are close to the public bathhouse. There is a laundry facility on site and all spaces are covered by park-wide, free WiFi. The lake is spring-fed and even offers great fishing opportunities. The monthly rate is $400 plus electric utilities (all sites are individually metered).
